In February, I wrote about the change coming to the New York State Consumer Director Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP). This is the program that allows loved ones to be paid for providing necessary caregiving assistance to older adults and those with special needs.  It is provided through the community Medicaid program.

At that time, I shared that the program was moving from 700 state Fiscal Intermediaries (FI) to just one called Public Partnerships LLC (PPL). I noted that the state had imposed a March 28 deadline for CDPAP participants to sign up with PPL. See the full article here.

I understand that the process of switching to PPL for CDPAP has been frustrating for many.  Please know the only way to make sure your CDPAP caregivers get paid is by signing up with PPL.  There are CDPAP facilitators in many communities (see list here) but you still have to change to PPL as your fiscal intermediary to make sure your CDPAP caregivers are paid.  Although the March 28 deadline to make the switch to PPL and avoid a lapse in payment has passed, it is not too late to sign up. So, if you have not signed up with PPL yet, I urge you to please do so as soon as possible.
