Parkinson’s disease affects too many of our clients, family and friends. My father had Parkinson’s and I saw first-hand an extraordinarily strong man became slowed in his walking, unsteady gate and tremors made ordinary tasks so challenging.

I have also seen in just the past 10 years more awareness about Parkinson’s Disease, new treatments and more research. But there is so much more that needs to be done to give more hope for the patients of Parkinson’s Disease.

It is the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease with 90,000 new diagnosis every year. I am always learning. One thing I always tell my clients is to go to a nuerologist who specializes in neurodegenerative diseases if a Parkinson’s diagnosis is a potential.

Here are 10 early signs of Parkinson’s disease (It may not mean you have it but talk to
your doctor):

  • Tremor
  • Small Handwriting
  • Loss of Smell
  • Trouble Sleeping
  • Trouble Moving or Walking
  • Constipation
  • Softening or Lowering Voice
  • Masked Face
  • Dizziness or Fainting
  • Stooping or Hunching Over

The earlier the better, as the right medications, therapies, and support can increase your
quality of life. Check out https://www.parkinson.org/ for resources, a helpline, and research
and to spread the word.
